It's all about the Glutes...

Updated: Nov 11, 2017

In case you were not aware, your bum is pretty amazing. The muscles in your posterior help your body stay upright and enable you to power through workouts, so it is important for you to know how to get the most out of your glutes.

The three players that make up your glutes are the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus.

Weak glutes can make other muscles work harder, leading to injury and pain in other areas. The bum/glutes are one of the largest muscle groups in the body. That means that when you engage them, they burn serious calories. So, when your glutes are strong, every activity you do is positively impacted. In pregnancy the gluteus maximus muscles becomes stretched and weakened.

So this week we will focus on this powerhouse of muscles to retrain and strengthen the glutes.

The first buggyfit squat of champion of 2017 is Rachel with a squat hold of 3 minutes 31 seconds and I would like to award Silvia a close second with a time of 3-minute 20seconds completed whilst holding her little girl. Let me know what session you are coming to so I can give you your prizes? Just to let you know the world record is a staggering time of 11 hr 51 min 14 sec achieved by Dr. Thienna Ho (Vietnam) in 2008.

Who is joining me this week? Monday is going to be about shuttle runs and the agility ladder and this Saturday's Parkmum (for time without baby) is about a killer countdown 20-15-10 workout.
